Bush Narrowly Misses Olympic Qualification, Places Fourth at U.S. Trials

Michigan State track & field All-American Nicole Bush ran the best race of her young career late last night, but finished just short of her goal of making the United States Olympic Team. Bush ran a personal best time of 9:40.27 in the finals of the 3000m steeplechase to finish fourth in front of a sold out crowd at Heyward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.

The Michigan State track & field team finished up the first day of competition at the 2008 NCAA Mideast Regional Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas on Friday night. Sophomore Ian Boyle and freshman Erica Mann each had strong performances in the men's 800m and women's 100m, respectively, both setting personal marks in their event.

Spartans Travel To Arkansas For 2008 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships

Fifteen student-athletes from the Michigan State track & field team will represent the Spartans at the 2008 NCAA Mideast Regional Track & Field Championships on May 30-31 in Fayetteville, Ark., hosted by the University of Arkansas. The team-scored event will be held at John McDonnell Field, as student-athletes compete for entry into the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, June 11-14.

Senakiewich Runs Two Regional-Qualifying Times in Final Day of Big Ten Championships

The Michigan State track & field team finished up the last day of competition at the 2008 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Illinois on Sunday afternoon. Senior Lisa Senakiewich put up big performances in both the 1500m and 5000m runs, scoring a total of eight points for the MSU women. Senakiewich placed fourth in the 1500m with a regional-qualifying mark of 4:24.35. In the 5000m, the Spartan senior claimed a sixth-place finish, hitting another regional-qualifying time of 16:43.48. The Michigan State women finished the championships in ninth place with 35 points, while the men finished in 10th (19).

Agrusa Breaks School Record in Day Two of Big Ten Championships

The Michigan State track & field teams finished day two of competition at the Big Ten Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Illinois on Saturday afternoon. Red-shirt freshman Anthony Agrusa put on an impressive display for the Spartans, crushing his personal-best mark of 49.36m (161-11) by more than three meters, with a regional-qualifying launch of 52.53m (172-4) in the discus throw. Agrusa finished in third place overall, while putting up six points for the Michigan State men. His performance breaks the school record of 51.84m (171-1) set by former Spartan Steve Manz in 2004.

Throws Teams Score Points In First Day of Big Ten Outdoor Championships

URBANA, Ill. - Senior Meagan Halliwill and red-shirt junior Kyle Strotbaum kicked off action for the Spartans in day one of the 2008 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships, both scoring in the hammer throw at the Illinois Soccer and Track Stadium on Friday afternoon. Halliwill put six points on the board for the green and white, after coming in third with a regional-qualifying launch of 55.67m (182-8). After beginning the day seeded No. 11, Strotbaum pulled out a seventh-place finish with a toss of 56.32m (184-9), his second-best throw of the season.

Michigan State Travels to Illinois for Big Ten Outdoor Championships

The Michigan State track & field team travels to Champaign, Ill., for the 2008 Big Ten Outdoor Championships on May 16-18, hosted by the University of Illinois at the Illinois Soccer and Track Stadium. The Illini host the championships for the first time since 1997. Events are scheduled to begin on Friday, May 16 at 1 p.m. ET with the decathlon 100m.

Michigan State Completes Final Day of Len Paddock Invitational

The MSU track & field team finished up competition in the final day of the Len Paddock Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan, on Saturday afternoon. Red-shirt sophomore Tricia Kowalski turned in a strong performance for the Spartans, coming in second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.83, her second-best mark of the season.
