MSU Men's Soccer Announces 2008 Schedule
Seven home matches and a weekend trip to perennial power New Mexico highlight the 2008 Michigan State men's soccer schedule. The Spartans will christen the new DeMartin Soccer Complex at Old College Field Friday, Aug. 29 versus St. Francis (PA) as part of the MSU/Radisson Fall Classic, and will conclude the regular season at home Sunday, Nov. 2 against Northwestern. MSU head men's soccer coach Joe Baum made the announcementTuesday, June 10.

If you listen to those who played with or against him, you would think he scored on every touch.

Spencer Thompson To Compete For Spot With U.S. U-20 Team
Michigan State men's soccer freshman Spencer Thompson (Shelby Township, Mich./De La Salle) is one of 23 collegiate players to be invited to the domestic training camp for the United States U-20 Men's Soccer Team. Thompson, who was named to the 2007 Big Ten All-Freshman team, will travel with some of the nation's best to New Orleans for six days to play in a four-team tournament beginning on Feb. 19. The team was announced by U.S. U-20 head coach Thomas Rongen.

Kevin Reiman Selected In MLS Supplemental Draft
Senior Kevin Reiman, a second-team All-Big Ten midfielder on the Michigan State men's soccer team, was selected in the supplemental draft of the MLS by Real Salt Lake. Reiman, a native of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., was the third pick (28th overall) of the third round of the supplemental draft, a four-round draft that is added on to the Superdraft, which was held earlier this month. Reiman joins senior teammate Rauwshan McKenzie as the two Spartan players to be invited to play in the MLS. He also becomes the fourth MSU player in the past four years to be selected.

Rauwshan McKenzie Selected By Kansas City In MLS Superdraft
The number of athletes who have a chance to realize their dreams and play a professional sport is few. Michigan State men's soccer senior Rauwshan McKenzie is now in that select few, as he was selected by the Kansas City Wizards in the Major League Soccer Superdraft on Friday afternoon. The first-team All-Big Ten defender was picked in the fourth round and was the 53rd selection overall. In the process, he became the third Spartan in the last four years to be selected by Kansas City.

Doug DeMartin Named First-Team NSCAA Scholar All-American
Michigan State men's soccer standout Doug DeMartin (Mason, Mich./Mason) was named first-team scholar all-american by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The redshirt-junior forward, who led the Big Ten in goals and owns a 3.91 GPA in finance at MSU, was one of 12 NCAA Division I players and the only Big Ten student-athlete on the first team.

Rauwshan McKenzie Selcted To MLS Superdraft Combine
Michigan State men's soccer senior defender Rauwshan McKenzie, a first team All-Big Ten selection and four-year starter for the Spartans, is one of 54 NCAA Division I players who have been invited to the MLS Superdraft Combine in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The combine will take place Jan. 11-15 at Lockhart Stadium.

Spencer Thompson Named To National All-Freshman Team
Michigan State freshman Spencer Thompson (Shelby Twp., Mich./De La Salle) was named to the All-Freshman Second Team by national publication Soccer America. He was one of 22 freshmen - and one of only three from Big Ten schools - to receive national recognition. Soccer America made the announcement on Friday, Dec. 21.

Oakland Ends MSU's Season In NCAA First Round, 2-1
Summit League champion Oakland scored once in each half and Michigan State played 46 minutes a man down as the Grizzlies defeated the Spartan men's soccer team, 2-1, in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Saturday at a cold and snowy Old College Field. Oakland (12-6-3) advances to a second-round match-up at Notre Dame on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. MSU ends its season with an 11-6-4 record.
