Former Michigan State tennis standout andAll-Big Ten performer Christine Bader has been chosen as women's tennishead coach at the University of Evansville. She replaces SteveBrockriede, who resigned last month after four years as head coach inorder to pursue his career as a club professional.

Michigan State senior Christine Bader was selected as a finalist for the 2008 Wilson/ITA National Student-Athlete Promoter of the Year Award. The International Tennis Association (ITA) and Wilson Sporting Goods Co. created the award to recognize the contributions of outstanding team managers and student-athletes who have helped to maximize support for their individual tennis program and college tennis in general.

The No. 73 Michigan State women's tennis team fell to No. 63 Wisconsin, 4-2, in the first round of the Big Ten Championships on Thursday afternoon at the Schwartz Tennis Center. Michigan State fell behind early, as the Badgers dropped the Spartans at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, taking the early 1-0 lead. MSU won the first two matches in singles competition, but Wisconsin rebounded with three quick victories, ending the Spartans' season.

Spartans Women's Tennis Loses to Wisconsin In Final Match of Regular Season

The Michigan State women's tennis team lost in its regular-season finale, 5-2, to Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon at the Nielsen Tennis Center. MSU (12-12, 3-7 Big Ten) fell behind early, 1-0, after surrending the doubles point. The Badgers hung tough in singles, beating the Spartans in four of six matches. MSU's Stephanie Kebler and Manon Noe both won their matches in super tiebreakers for the third set, as Kebler took out Emese Kardhordo, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5), while Noe defeated Jessica Seyferth, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (13-11).

MSU Women's Tennis Loses Close One to Penn State on Senior Day

The No. 59 Michigan State women's tennis team was upset by Penn State, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. On senior day, Christine Bader impressed, teaming with Whitney Wilson to take down Penn State's Sarah Lotta and Jenny Shular, 8-4, in doubles. The lone Spartan senior then blew past Katelyn BeVard in straight sets at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. MSU is now 12-10 (3-5 Big Ten) on the season, while Penn State improves to 8-10 (2-5 Big Ten).

The No. 59 Michigan State women's tennis team fell to No. 26 Michigan, 6-1, on Wednesday night at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. The Wolverines controlled the match from the start, sweeping the doubles matches, then claimed five of six in singles. Stephanie Kebler picked up the only win for the Spartans at No. 2 singles, coming back from a first-set loss to defeat Michigan's Whitney Taney, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-1). The Spartans are now 12-9 on the season, and 3-4 in Big Ten play.

The No. 71 Michigan State women's tennis team edged No. 46 Iowa, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts. The Spartans came out swinging in doubles, taking two of three matches and earning the 1-0 lead. MSU is now 12-1 when winning the early doubles point. Michigan State did just enough in singles, as it split 3-3, hanging on for the 1-point victory. After two wins this weekend, the Spartans sit with a record of 12-8, including 3-3 in Big Ten play.

The No. 71 Michigan State women's tennis team upset No. 57 Minnesota, 4-3, in a back-and-forth match on Saturday afternoon at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts in East Lansing. In the first outdoor match of the season, the Spartans came out tough, winning the doubles point. MSU then took out the Gophers in three of six flights to clinch the match. Michigan State improves to 11-8 (2-3 Big Ten) on the season, while Minnesota falls to 11-7 (1-5 Big Ten).
