Women's Soccer Is Defeated By Iowa, 1-0

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women?s soccer team was defeated by Iowa, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Old College Field on the MSU campus. MSU?s record falls to 4-5-3 overall (3-2-1 Big Ten), while Iowa improves 7-4 (3-2 Big Ten).
Freshman Sarah Lynch scored the lone goal of the game at 30:18 for the Hawkeyes. Junior Ann Cieszkowki (Beverly Hills, Mich.) led Michigan State with two shots on goal, while junior Kate Walse led with three shots for Iowa. Junior Spartan goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman (Farmington) and sophomore Hawkeye goalkeeper Missy Wickart both recorded six saves for their team.
?For the first half and most of the second half we played the best team soccer of the season, but we weren?t able to capitalize on the opportunities,? said head coach Tom Saxton.
The Spartans face Michigan on Friday in Ann Arbor at 4 p.m.
