NOTES: Third-ranked Wisconsin beat No. 4 Michigan State for the first time in seven College Hockey Showcase meetings. The Spartans were 6-0-0 vs. the Badgers in the annual event entering this year.
? Michigan State has lost three straight games for the first time since Feb. 4, 10 and 11, 1995 (Michigan, two vs. Miami).
? Dany Heatley scored the sixth hat trick in College Hockey Showcase history and the first since 1996.
? Steve Reinprecht tied the CHS records for assists (four) and points (five) in a game.
? The crowd of 6,708 was the largest at Munn Ice Arena since 6,732 vs. Lake Superior Feb. 15, 1997.
? The 5-1 loss is Michigan State's worst at home since a 6-1 loss to Notre Dame, Nov. 1, 1997.
