OVERVIEW
MSU Head Coach Tom Saxton will have an experienced squad to work with in 1999 as the Spartans look to rebound after a 6-12-2 record a year ago ... A total of 20 letterwiners from 98 are back in the fold including five of the team's six top point producers ... Senior forward Jessica Moorman (10-2--22) and junior midfielder Gina Dawson (6-5--17) ranked 1-2, respectively, on the squad in scoring last season and will be counted upon to produce once again ... Look for the experience of senior midfielder Laura Montecillo (3-1--7) and the talent of sophomore forward Emily Clarke (2-0--4) to play a key role in the play of MSU's offense ... The Spartans will have a pair of vets at the goalkeeper position in junior Sara Kloosterman (1.90 g.a.a.) and senior Mara Lee (1.64 g.a.a.) ... On the backline, MSU returns fifth-year senior Melissa Jannetta who should make a run for postseason honors ... Sophomore Nicole LePlae is a promising defender who started all 20 games last season ... In addition key roles on the Spartan backline will be filled by juniors Amy Abner (1-0--2) and Ann Cieszowski (2-0--4).
