Douglas Advances to NCAA Championship Vault Finals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Michigan State senior gymnast Keith Douglas (Grand Rapids, Mich.) was one of nine athletes to advance to the vault finals at the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championship at Penn State on Thursday night. Douglas tied for fourth place with five other gymnasts after scoring a 9.700 in the preliminaries. The vault finals will take place on Sat., April 18 at 7 p.m. Scores from the preliminary round do not carry over to the finals.
Douglas is the lone Spartan at the NCAA Championships this season. He qualified individually for the vault with a career-high 9.750 at the NCAA Eastern Regional Championships at the University of Massachusetts on April 4. Last year Douglas earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish (9.675) at the NCAA Championships in Iowa.
In team competition, California, Iowa and Illinois all advanced to the team finals which takes place Friday at 7 p.m.
