EAST LANSING, MI - Michigan State basketball player A.J. Granger (Findlay, OH), will represent the Spartans on the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tour Team that will travel to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany from August 9-19.
Granger, a junior to be in 1998-99, appeared in all 30 Spartan games last season and averaged 2.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 12 minutes per outing. The 6-foot-9 forward notched a career-high nine points in a game at Illinois while finding his way into the scoring column in 22 contests.
"This a good opportunity for A.J. to get some additional experience and play against some solid international players," said MSU head coach Tom Izzo. "He was supposed to make the trip last year when I coached the squad, but he came down with mononucelosis and couldn't go. In the past, the Big Ten All-Star Tour has benefitted our players by helping develop their overall game."
The 1998 tour team is made up of 12 players and is coached by Michigan's Brian Ellerbe. The team is scheduled to begin practice in Ann Arbor on August 6 before leaving on August 9.
