Men's Gymnastics Ranked No. 2 In Latest Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. - In the polls, released Feb. 16*, the Michigan State men s gymnastics team is ranked second in the nation this week. The Spartans set the school record with a 228.420 performance in a win over Minnesota on Feb. 13. MSU leads a Big Ten sweep of the No.2-No. 6 positions with Iowa at No. 3, Ohio State at No. 4, Penn State at No. 5 and Illinois at No. 6. Michigan is also in the top ten at No. 8 followed by Minnesota, tied for 12th. State is ranked No. 1 in the floor exercise with a 38.900, also a new school record.
Individually, senior Keith Douglas is ranked No. 1* in floor exercise (9.825) and tied for seventh on vault (9.700). Senior Ethan Sterk is tied for third place on parallel bars (9.750) and for 12th on high bar (9.700). Freshman Tommy Housley has burst onto the collegiate scene tying for fifth on the floor exercise (9.750), trailed by Mike Quarress and Ryan Trumpinski at 11th (9.725) and 12th (9.700), respectively. Kenny Baker boasts a sixth-place tie on pommel horse (9.775).
The Spartans travel to No. 6 Illinois on Feb. 21 for their next meet.
