Spartan Rower Named Academic All-American

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior Megan Jewett (Portage, Mich.) is one of eight female student-athletes to earn 1998 USRowing Collegiate Academic All-America honors. Jewett was a member of Michigan States varsity 8 boat that qualified for the NCAA Championship. She currently holds a 3.82 grade point average in political economy.
The USRowing Academic All-America Award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in both academics and rowing. Applicants must be USRowing members, have rowed or coxed in a priority open or lightweight boat which raced at a league championship, have completed four semesters of academic work at the institution, and have earned a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
