Spartans Compete at NCAA Zone C Diving Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Both freshman Carly Weiden (Kentwood, Mich.) and senior Kim Zieman (Stony Plain, Alberta) finished in the top ten at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Bloomington, Ind., this weekend.
Yesterday, March 12, Weiden produced a seventh-place finish in the women's three-meter dive (427.10), while Zieman finished ninth (425.05). Junior Jason Owens (Plainwell, Mich.) took 13th in the men's one-meter dive (552.10) to end day one of the competition.
Today, Weiden led the Spartans with another seventh-place finish in the women's one-meter dive (388.05). Zieman followed in eighth place with a score of 377.75. Erin Quinn from Indiana led the women's competition in the one-meter dive (413.30).
Owens finished in 17th place in the men's three-meter dive with a score of 394.95. Brett Wilmot from Michigan led the men's competition in the men's three-meter dive (557.65).
The Spartans' swimming and diving team will be in action again on March 16-20, in Buffalo, N.Y., when selected members travel to the U.S. Junior National Championships.
