Spartans Drop Boilermakers in Road Contest

EAST LANSING, Mich. - After four hours of play, the Michigan State mens tennis team beat conference foe Purdue 4-3 at West LaFayette on Saturday. It was the first conference defeat for the Boilermakers.
Purdue started the afternoon out strong by winning the doubles point. MSU won the No. 2 seed doubles match while Purdue was victorious at No. 1 and 3.
In singles action, the Spartans won four of the six matches to come out victorious. MSU won at No. 1 and No.2, fell at No. 3 and 4, while pulling out victories at No. 5 and No. 6.
The win over Purdue raises Michigan States record to 8-9 and 4-2 in the Big Ten. MSU next travels to do battle against Indiana on April 11 at noon. The Spartans next home match is scheduled for April 18 against Minnesota.
