EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 18 Michigan State gymnastics team posted a 194.525-190.350 win over No. 23 Kent State University in Jenison Field House on Friday evening. MSU's score marked the eighth-highest in school history.
Freshman Elisabeth Forshier tied her career high with a 9.850 on the vault to lead the Spartans in that event for the fourth-straight meet and also take first place. Fellow frosh Melissa Green also had a stellar night, winning the bars with a 9.850 to set a new career mark. Green also topped her previous bests on the vault and the beam. Junior Carolyn Hecht was victorious on the balance beam with a 9.875 while the floor exercise was a tie between junior Mary Jo Schlicklin and freshman Melissa Ruane at 9.800.
MSU's team beam score of 48.775 was the seventh-best in school history.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the University of Iowa.
