Women's Soccer Battles to a Draw vs. Pepperdine

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 overtime tie against Pepperdine Friday evening in a game played at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

MSU junior midfielder Laura Monticello (Troy) put the Spartans on top, 1-0, with her first goal of the season at the 22:27 mark. The Waves' Kate Desmond then knotted the contest at 70:59. The tie leaves both team's record at 2-1-1 this year.

MSU's sophomore goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman (Farmington) turned in a fine game for the Spartans, finishing with 15 saves while her counterpart, senior Sumon Nicole registered six stops. Pepperdine finished with a 23-14 advantage in shot attempts.

MSU will take on UNLV on Sunday (Sept. 13) starting at 7:00 p.m. (EDT).
