Women's Swiming Falls to Illinois

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State women's swim team fell short to the Illinois Fighting Illini, 186-114, in their second home meet Saturday morning.
Despite the loss, MSU turned in some strong performances. Head coach Richard Bader said, "Our main strength on this team is our diving."
Kim Zieman continued to prove that by taking first in the 1-meter diving (244.80) and the 3-meter diving (272.48). Dianne Oliver won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.61. Ashby Baldock took first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 59.17. Rachel Frumkin pulled through with a first place in the 200 Breaststoke (2:22.09) after recovering from an injury.
For the University of Illinois, Emily Wang led the competition. She took first in the 110 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 400 Freestyle Relay, and the 200 Medley Relay. Nicola Homenock took first in the 100 Butterfly, 200 Butterfly, and the 400 Freestyle Relay.
The Michigan State University women's swimming and diving team will be in action again on December 3-5 when it travels to Notre Dame with the men's team for the Notre Dame Invitational. The meet begins at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
