East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State field hockey player Bridget Cooper has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in three games last week. Cooper, a freshman forward, tallied a hat trick in just her second collegiate game, a 5-0 win over St. Louis.
A native of Winnetka, Ill., Cooper and fellow Spartan rookie Marleen Tuip lead the Big Ten in scoring with six points each.
The Spartans, who are 2-1 overall, will play Stanford tomorrow at 6 p.m., in Mt. Pleasant. MSU plays in the Temple Invitational this weekend in Philadelphia, Pa. (Sept. 12-13). The Spartans open the tourney against fourth-ranked North Carolina, the winner of the last three NCAA Championships.
