EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State freshman right wing Adam Hall (Kalamazoo, Mich.) was named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team, the league announced today.
"Adam is a very diligent, hard-working type of player," head coach Ron Mason said. "It's nice to see him get recognized with an individual honor. He has done a lot of the little things extremely well this year, and has added an element of toughness which has been important to us."
Hall, who leads all Spartan rookies with 10 goals and 15 points, finished second among CCHA freshmen in goals. He led all league rookies in game-winning goals with four. After spending last season with the U.S. Under-18 Team, Hall was one of two Spartans (along with goaltender Joe Blackburn) to make the U.S. National Junior Team this season.
Hall's teammate with the U.S. Under-18 Team last year, defenseman Andrew Hutchinson (Rochester Hills, Mich.), was one of seven players to earn honorable mention. Hutchinson is second among MSU rookies with 12 points (1-11-12) and has been especially strong in the second half of the season, posting 10 points since Dec. 26.
The Bauer/CCHA All-Rookie Team is selected by a vote of the conference coaches. Because ties are included, not broken, seven players were selected and seven earned honorable mention. It marks the second time since the recognition began in 1989 that seven players were selected.
Michigan State won its second consecutive CCHA regular-season championship, finishing with a conference record of 20-3-7. The Spartans are 26-4-7 overall entering the first round of the CCHA Tournament, a best-of-three series March 12-14 against Lake Superior at Munn Ice Arena. Tickets are available at the MSU Athletic Ticket Office or by calling 800-GO-STATE.
