Men's Golf Finishes 11th at Border Olympics

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's three-round total of 300-301-302=903 placed MSU 11th in the 18-team field at the Border Olympics held at The Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas. The course measures a total of 7,125 yards and is a par 72 course. The Spartans' three-round team score of 903 was 39-over par and twenty-nine strokes behind tournament winner Baylor. Baylor finished at ten-over par.
The tournament was MSU's second competition of the spring season and first since mid-February. Senior Matt Pumford (Saginaw, Mich.) shot rounds of 72-74-79=225 along with freshman Adam Walicki's (Saline, Mich.) 76-76-73=225 to lead the Spartans. They both finished tied for 33rd place. Nathan Clark (Mason, Mich.) saw his first competition of the season. The freshman finished tied for 72nd place with rounds of 77-77-80=234 to finish at 18-over par.
Michigan State will return to the state of Texas for the third time this spring next weekend when they compete in the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate in Dallas, Texas.
