Michigan State Women's Tennis Defeats Illinois-Chicago

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team defeated Illinois-Chicago this afternoon, 6-1. The victory improved MSU's overall record to 10-4 (1-2 Big Ten).
In singles, senior Brooke West led the Spartans at the No. 1 position. Also earning singles victories for Michigan State were senior Isabell Oelze at No. 2, sophomore Kelli Hayes at No. 4, junior Brooke Townsend at No. 5, and senior Jaime Tannenbaum at No. 6. Hayes improved her overall record to 12-2 with a victory against UIC's Jackie Farr.
The Spartans swept all three doubles matches for the first time since a 7-0 victory over Akron on January 1.
The Spartans will return to action when the host Wisconsin at 11 a.m. on Sat. March 27, and Iowa at 10 a.m. on Sun., March 28. Both matches will be held at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
