Michigan State Women's Tennis Falls Short Against Indiana

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team was defeated on Sunday, April 11, by Indiana, 5-2, at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. It was the final home match for MSU before it hosts the Big Ten Women's Tennis Championship April 29-May 2. The loss gives Michigan State an 11-8 overall record (1-6 Big Ten).
The Spartans gave up the doubles point for the second-straight match and the eighth time this year. All three Michigan State tandems lost their respective matches.
The Spartans were led in singles competition by senior Isabell Oelze, who defeated IU's Kelly Blanch, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 position for her first Big Ten singles victory this season. Also netting up a win for MSU was junior Brooke Townsend, who came from behind to defeat Indiana's Ana Ceretto, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Michigan State returns to action next weekend, when they travel to Minnesota on Sunday, April 18. The match between the Spartans and the Gophers is set to begin at 10 a.m.
