Michigan State Women's Tennis Falls to Minnesota

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team was defeated on Sunday, April 18, by Minnesota, 6-1, in Minneapolis. The loss gives Michigan State an 11-9 overall record (1-7 Big Ten).
In doubles competition, all three Michigan State tandems lost their respective matches. The closest doubles match came at the No. 2 position where MSU senior Brooke West and sophomore Kelli Hayes were defeated by Minnesota's Tarah Elkins and Sitinee Rangsithienchai, 8-5.
In singles, Hayes bounced back from a loss against Indiana's Amanda Field last weekend. Hayes defeated Minnesota's Jana Hrdinova, 7-5, 6-1, at the No. 4 position. The victory gives Hayes 17-3 overall record (6-2 Big Ten).
Michigan State returns to action next weekend, when it finishes out the regular season. MSU will travel to Northwestern on Saturday, April 24 for a 10 a.m. match. On Sunday, April 25 the Spartans will continue on the road with a match against Illinois at 10 a.m.
