Michigan State Women's Tennis Falls to Purdue

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team was defeated by Purdue, 5-2, on April 10 at the MSU outdoor tennis courts. The loss dropped MSU's overall record to 11-7 (1-5 Big Ten).
MSU lost only its seventh doubles point of the season after dropping two close 8-6 matches at the No. 2 and 3 positions.
In singles competition, sophomore Kelli Hayes, who defeated Missy Wright, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 4 doubles position, paced the Spartans. Hayes improved her Big Ten record to 5-1 (16-2 overall). Michigan State's other victory came from senior Jaime Tannenbaum, who defeated Lynsey Fick, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 6. Tannenbaum is now 4-2 in the Big Ten (13-5 overall).
The Spartans will return to action tomorrow, when they host Indiana at 10 a.m. on Sun., April 11. Weather permitting, the match will be played at the MSU outdoor tennis courts.
