MEN'S GOLF IN FOURTH AFTER FIRST TWO ROUNDS

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State?s men?s golf team is currently in fourth place after two rounds at the Colorado State Invitational. The Spartans shot 290-289=579 at the par-70, 6,878 yard Fort Collins Country Club. The 15 teams will finish up play today, as the final rounds begins at 8:00 a.m. MT. The University of Colorado led the tournament after the first day with 286-275=561.
Junior Brent Goik (Bay City, Mich.) played two spectacular rounds, shooting 70-71=141, which put him in a four-way tie for third place. Senior Carlos Foulquie (Madrid, Spain) is in a tie for tenth place after shooting a 75-68=143. Foulquie's 68 was the Spartans' low round of the day.
Sophomore Nathan Clark (Mason, Mich.) shot 72-77=149. Freshman Lorne Don (Toronto, Ont.) saw his first action of the year for the Spartans and posted rounds of 75-73=148 putting him in 35th place. Another MSU golfer who made his debut was Dennis Riedel, shooting 73-78=151.
Michigan State will next be in action on Oct. 1&2 at the Northern Intercollegiate in West Lafayette, Ind. The action will take place at the par-72, 7,253 yard Birk Boilermaker Golf Complex, Kampen Course.
