Men's Golf Finishes Northern Intercollegiate in 13th place

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team shot 301-306-308=915 at the Northern Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for 13th with Kentucky. Purdue won the tournament, shooting 291-298-300=889 at the par-72, 7,118-yard Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana, Ill.
Nathan Clark (Jr., Mason) was MSU's best finisher, shooting 73-74-79=226, which put him in a tie for 21st place. John Koskinen (So., Baraga) fired a three day total of 76-77-78=232. Dennis Riedel (Sr., St. Clair) was only one shot back of Koskinen, shooting 81-75-76=232. Brent Goik (Sr., Bay City) shot a first round 76 and a pair of 80's in the final two rounds to give him a three-day total of 236. Lorne Don (So., Toronto, Ont.) shot 76-87-75=238.
Penn State's Matt Abbott shot 70-71-74=215 to take medalist honors.
Michigan State will return to action October 9 and 10 at the Missouri The Bluffs/Purina Intercollegiate.
