EAST LANSING, MICH. - The No. 16 ranked Michigan State men's cross country team finished fourth at the Big Ten Championships on Sunday at the Yahara Hills Golf Course in Madison, Wis.. The team competiton was won by the No.6 ranked Wisconsin Badgers (45 points) winning their 35th Big Ten title. Indiana (81 points) and Penn State (82 points), finished second and third, while Minnesota rounded out the top five (133 points).
For the Spartans, freshman Steve Padgett (Cincinnati, Ohio)was the top finisher, placing sixth (24:23). His top ten finish earned him first team All-Big Ten honors. Teammate Ben Evans (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) earned second team All-Big Ten with his 15th place finish (24:50). Wisconsin's Jason Vanderhoof and Jared Cordes took first and second in the individual competition, running 24:01 and 24:08 respectively.
