Men's Cross Country Race To Sixth At NCAA Regionals

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State's Ben Evans (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) finished 14th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet in Ypsilanti, Mich. on Nov. 12. Evans finished the 10k race with a time of 31:33.9. Evans was joined by freshman teammate Steve Padgett (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) in the top 20, as Padgett placed 20th in a time of 31:52.9. The individual title was won by Wisconsin's Jason Vanderhoof (30:47.10).
The Great Lakes Regional team title was won by Wisconsin (75 points) for the second year in a row. Michigan State finished sixth scoring 190 points.
The men's team will not advance to the NCAA Championship, although Evans and Padgett have an opportunity to receive at-large bids as individual runners. The at-large bids will be announced Monday.
