Men Gymnasts Defeat Illinois-Chicago

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's gymnastics team notched another win for the season over No. 12 Illinois-Chicago 224.225-217.800 on Sunday, February 20. With the win, No. 7 MSU improves to 3-8 overall (1-2 Big Ten).
Brady Grimm (Sr., Holland, Ohio) attained a season-high on both the floor exercise (9.400) and the vault (9.600), while the Spartans also reached a season-high as a team on the floor exercise (38.250). Other season-highs were also set on the vault by senior Jeff Moomaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) with a 9.350 and David Ruiz (So., Oviedo, Fla.) with a 9.650. Freshman Jamie Shepard (Dayton, Ohio) reached a season-high today on the pommel horse (9.350), while Tom Housley (Jr., Jonesboro, Ga.) had his best score of the season on the floor exercise with a 9.400. Freshman Brad Golden (Orlando, Fla.) was the only all-around competitor of the meet (55.350) and reached a season-high on the parallel bars with a 9.500.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday, February 24 against Michigan in Ann Arbor at 7 p.m.
