No. 10 Wrestling Falls To No. 5 Oklahoma, 31-5

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 10 Michigan State wrestling team lost their final dual meet of the season, 31-5, to No. 5 Oklahoma Thursday night in Norman, Okla. With the loss the Spartans end the season 9-5-1 overall, 4-3-1 in the Big Ten, while the Sooners improve to 17-4-1 overall.
OU got on the board first as redshirt freshman Witt Durden scored a 3-2 upset over MSU's second-ranked junior Pat McNamara (Jordan, Minn.) at 133 pounds. No. 4 Michael Lightner got a major decision at 141 and Jared Frayer followed with a pin at 149 to stake the Sooners to a 13-0 lead.
Redshirt freshman Gray Maynard (Las Vegas, Nev.) closed the gap to 13-5 and got the only Spartan victory of the dual with a 23-7 technical fall over Rosty Walker. Maynard amassed his 16-point margin of victory in 6:30.
Oklahoma then ran off seven consecutive victories to close the dual. The seven three-point decisions brought the final score to 31-5.
MSU now returns home to prepare for the Big Ten Championships, March 4-5 at Purdue University.
