Women's Tennis Shut Out In Big Ten Opener

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The MSU women's tennis team dropped its Big Ten opener Saturday afternoon, losing 7-0 to Illinois. The Spartans fall to 1-5 on the season, 0-1 in the conference, while the Illini improve to 3-5 overall, 1-0 in the Big Ten.
Illinois won all nine matches of the dual, including forfeits by Michigan State at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Freshman Joi McQueen (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) played the best match of the day for MSU, losing 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 to Natalia Manasova at No. 5 singles.
The Spartans return to action Sunday morning at 11 a.m., hosting Big Ten foe Northwestern. The match will be played at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
