Baseball Suffers 3-1 Defeat To Eastern Michigan

Ypsilanti, Mich. - The Michigan State baseball team (5-16, 1-3 Big Ten) lost to Eastern Michigan, 3-1, at Oestrike Stadium on the campus of Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, March 28.
After five scoreless innings, the Spartans struck first with one run in the sixth. Mike Pisani (Rochester, Mich.) hit his 13th RBI of the year on a single to leftfield that brought in Matt Haynes (Midland, Mich.).
The Eagles (8-13) countered with two runs in the seventh to take the lead, 2-1. MSU starter Ryan Golem (Dearborn, Mich.), who had allowed just one hit in six innings, gave up a lead-off home run to EMU first-baseman Justin Hesse. After the homer, Golem was relieved by Dylan Putnam (Ann Arbor, Mich.). Putnam allowed one unearned run in the inning to suffer his second loss of the season (0-2). EMU added an insurance run in the eighth off MSU reliever Kimya Massey (Okemos, Mich.).
Eagle starter Joe Linde earned his second victory of the season (2-0), giving up only one run and two hits in 7 2/3 innings of work.
MSU returns to action, Thursday, March 30, to face the Lakers of Grand Valley State at Kobs Field. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
