BOCA RATON, Fla. - MSU baseball now falls to 1-6 on the season following its 11-1 loss to the Owls of Florida Atlantic University on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Florida Atlantic improves to 12-5 on the year.
Just like Saturday's game against Ball State, MSU took the lead in the top-half of the first inning, but just like Saturday the Spartans would squander their early lead. MSU went up 1-0 in the opening inning off of sophomore first baseman Kyle Geswein's (Dayton, Ohio) RBI double, which drove home senior co-captain Mike Pisani (Rochester, Mich.), who singled to right field earlier in the inning.
Following the top-half of the first inning it all went down hill from there for MSU. The Owls -led by right fielder Zack Roper's two homeruns - scored 11 straight runs against MSU, and their pitching held the Spartans scoreless for the games final eight innings.
MSU will look to regroup tomorrow, March 6, when it will face Lynn University at 2:30 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
