EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team looks to end its season on a high note this week as the Spartans travel to Bloomington, Ind. to compete at the Big Ten Championship. Play begins on Thursday, April 27 and runs through Sunday, April 30. Michigan State heads into the Big Ten Championship being led by five seniors. Co-captains Mark Findling (Livonia, Mich.) and Ivica Primorac (Mosthar, Bosnia), Ken Kigongo (Bradenton, Fla.), Robert Topalo (Prague, Czech Rep.), and Francisco Trinidad (Mexico City, Mexico) all play vital roles in MSU's results. Findling teams with Kigongo at No. 1 doubles, while Primorac and Trinidad make up Michigan State's No. 3 doubles squad. In singles action, Kigongo, R. Topalo, Primorac, and Trinidad play at No. 1 through No. 4 respectively.
The Spartans struggled in doubles at the beginning of the season. Due to various injuries to multiple players, MSU could not settle on a line-up. Now, healthy for the first length of time, Michigan State is playing its best doubles of the year. The singles line-up has been solidified by the return of Trinidad at No. 4. He missed all action prior to Big Ten play due to a shoulder injury and broken hand. Rounding out the singles line-up for MSU are three freshmen. Goran Topalo (Prague, Czech Rep.), brother of Robert Topalo, plays at No. 5. Jimmy McGuire (Columbus, Ohio) and Todd Townsend (East Lansing, Mich.) split time at No. 6 singles.
