Men's Tennis Drops Close Match To Northwestern

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team lost a close match to the Northwestern Wildcats, 4-3 on Saturday, April 1, in Evanston, Illinois. The loss drops the Spartans' record to 5-13/0-2.
The Spartans were led by senior Ken Kigongo (Bradenton, Fla.) at the No. 2 position. Kigongo defeated Northwestern's Brad Erickson, 6-4, 6-4. At the No. 3 position, MSU senior Ivica Primorac (Mosthar, Bosnia) defeated Jackie Jensen in a tight match, 7-6 (3), 6-4. The other Spartan victory came at the No. 5 position, where freshman Goran Topalo (Prague, Czech Rep.) defeated the Wildcats' Russell Bennett, 6-0, 6-1.
Northwestern took the doubles point by sweeping through all three matches.
The Spartans return to competition on Sunday, April 2 against Illinois in Champaign at 12:00 p.m.
