Golf Loses Ground In Third Round Of NCAA Championship

Sunriver, Ore. - The Michigan State women's golf team totaled 314 in third round action of the NCAA Championship on Friday to fall to 22nd heading into Saturday's final 18 holes of play. The Spartans, who have a 54-hole total of 927, were tied for 16th going into Friday's round.
Sophomore Emily Bastel paced the Spartans with a one-over par 73 to move into 18th place. The 2000 Big Ten Medalist is seven-over par for the championship with a total of 223. Junior Kasey Gant was the only other MSU player to break 80 on the day with a 79. Gant is tied for 40th with a three-day total of 227.
Arizona has a commanding lead with a team total of 865, 28 strokes better than second-place USC at 893.
