East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's cross country team has earned All-Academic honors from the United States Cross Country Coaches Association. The Spartans were recognized for their 3.05 team grade-point average.
To earn USCCA All-Academic honors a team must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 and have competed in the NCAA district meet. MSU finished seventh out of 28 teams at the 1999 Great Lakes Regional meet, while senior Joe Leo qualified as an individual for the NCAA Championship.
The Spartans, coached by 16th-year mentor Jim Stintzi, also earned USCCA All-Academic honors in 1997.
