Men's Golf Jumps Five Spots, Takes Fifth

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team shot 286 on the final day to take fifth place at the Colorado State University Invitational on Tuesday. The tournament was only 36-holes due to weather, the Spartans shot a two day total 292-286=578. Colorado won the tournament with a two-round total of 563, Texas-Arlington took second and Penn State took third.
The Spartan's Dennis Riedel (Sr., St. Clair), who was in 10th place after day one, jumped one spot to a three-way tie for ninth place. Riedel fired a two-day total of 70-71=141. Nathan Clark (Jr., Mason) finished just two shots back of Riedel, shooting 72-70=142. MSU's John Koskinen (So., Baraga) improved five shots on the final day and finished 75-70=145. Wyoming's David Hearn captured medallist honors, shooting 69-67=136.
The Spartans next action will take place this Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October at the Northern Intercollegiate in Champaign, Illinois.
