Women's Golf Takes Ninth at Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Michigan State women's golf team finished ninth in the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate Sunday (Oct. 14). The Spartans shot a three-round score of 299-310-321-930 at the Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club. Purdue captured first (297-300-305-902), while Auburn took second (299-298-310-907). Duke (293-302-315-910) and Georgia (294-300-316-910) tied for third.
The Spartans' top finisher was junior Allison Fouch (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) who shot a three-round score of 69-79-80-228, tying for 14th. Fouch's 3-under score Friday (Oct. 12) was a career-best round. Purdue's Kari Damron led the tournament with a 71-74-72-217, three strokes ahead of Duke's Leigh Anne Hardin, who finished second with a 67-77-76-220.
Senior Emily Bastel (Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky) tied for 23rd with a 75-76-79-230, junior Jessica Till (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) tied for 44th (77-79-82-238), senior Stacy Snider (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grandville) tied for 49th (78-83-80-241), and junior Ann Marie Kersten (Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor) tied for 67th with a score of 83-76-93-252.
Michigan State women's golf will conclude the fall season Oct. 26-28 at the Lady Paladin tournament in Greenville, S.C.
