MSU Men's Gymnastics Comes Up Short Against Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 6 Michigan State men's gymnastics team came up just short of an upset of No. 2 Michigan, falling 215.525-215.000 in Ann Arbor on March 16. The Spartans won five of six events.
The Spartans were paced by freshman Taft Dorman (Tacoma, Wash.), who won both the still rings and the vault, earning scores of 9.525 and 9.150 respectively.
Junior Jonathan Plante (Easton, Pa.) who is currently first in the nation on the pommel horse, won that event with a score of 9.825. Plante also finished third on the parallel bars with an 8.700 and second in the all-around standings (53.125).
Winning the parallel bars was sophomore Jamie Shepard (Dayton, Ohio), who scored an 8.800. Shepard also took third on the horizontal bar with a 9.150.
Also turning in an impressive performance for the Spartans was sophomore Brad Golden (Orlando, Fla.). Golden won the floor exercise with a 9.150, took second on the parallel bars with a score of 8.750 and tied for third on the vault with a 9.000.
Michigan State will round out the regular season when it travels to Penn State on Sunday, March 18 for a 2 p.m. meet.
