Women's Tennis Falls to No. 40 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Michigan State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 40 Florida State on Tuesday (March 6) in Tallahassee. It was the first-ever meeting between the schools.
Florida State took an early 1-0 lead as the Seminoles swept the doubles action to pick up the first point of the match. At the No. 1 position, FSU's Jessica Balbuena and Samantha Schoeffel defeated the Spartan freshmen duo of Caroline Lay and Trine Lise Juliussen, 8-3.
In singles play, MSU's Natasha Skogerboe dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to FSU's Alida Gallovits at No. 1 singles. Meanwhile, Caroline Lay fell to FSU's Nanette Duxin 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3 position and Mollie Hood dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to FSU's Marina Raic at No. 6 singles.
The Spartans (5-7 overall) return to action March 8 at Florida A&M.
