Kevin Crews Selected to Attend 2001 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Michigan State junior infielder Kevin Crews (Hickley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit HS) has been selected to attend the 2001 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference May 28-June 1 at Disney's World of Sport's Complex and Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. A total of 300 student-athletes from all NCAA divisions and 22 different sports have been selected to participate in the fifth annual conference.
The mission of the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference is to provide a diverse group of the nation's top student-athletes an opportunity to actively participate in challenging and thought-provoking activities that will enable them to become better leaders on their campuses and in their communities. As a result of this participation, the student-athlete will enhance their communication, decision-making, problem-solving, critical-thinking and collaborative skills. The conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty members and communities.
Topics discussed at the 2001 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference were identified during the nomination process as well as topics recommended by members of the Divisions I, II and III NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committees who serve as an Association-wide voice for student-athlete issues. Topics for past conferences have included developing leadership skills, changing perception, developing political skills and utilizing the student-athlete committee.
