East Lansing, Mich. - Freshman Bryan Gale (Fr., Decatur) was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, Monday. Gale earned two victories last week over Oakland (12-3) and Northwestern (6-2) to improve to 7-0. He threw his first career complete-game Sunday in the victory over Northwestern and also struck out a career-high eight batters and allowed just one earned run. Earlier in the week at Oakland, he threw five shutout innings and struck out four. For the week, he posted a 0.64 ERA.
Currently, he is second in the Big Ten Conference in ERA, at 2.43, and is only one of two pitchers in the conference to have an ERA under 3.00. His seven wins on the season are also good for the second highest win total in the Big Ten.
