MSU Women's Crew Finishes Fifth At Lexus Central Sprints

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The Michigan State women's crew finished fifth in the Lexus Central Sprints as day two of competition wrapped up Sunday (May 13) at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The Spartans amassed 14 total points during the event. Michigan won the team championship with 120 points followed by Ohio State with 74 points. Iowa (49 points) and Minnesota (16 points) captured third and fourth places, respectively.
MSU's top showing was a fourth-place finish in the 1st Varsity Eights Grande Final with a time of 6:42.4. Michigan's rowers took top honors, finishing in 6:37.2.
Michigan State recorded fifth-place finishes in four races. In the 2nd Varsity Eights Grande Final, MSU posted a time of 6:55.6 with first-place Michigan leading the pack at 6:42.6. The Spartan rowers completed the 1st Varsity Fours Grande Final at 7:39.7. Michigan again captured top honors with a time of 7:23.6. In the 2nd Varsity Fours Grande Final, MSU's time was 7:58.8 with Michigan winning the event at 7:32.7. The Spartans' 7:18.6effort in the 1st Novice Eights Petite Final was good for a top-five showing. Cincinnati placed first at 7:09.6.
