East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State women's rowing crew will commence the 2001-2002 season at the Head of the Cuyahoga fall race in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, September 22. Approximately 30 organizations have been entered into the event, including the University of Dayton and Cleveland State University. The race is hosted by the Western Reserve Rowing Foundation and is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. EST.
The Spartan rowing team looks to improve upon their third place finish at the 2001 Big Ten Championships and a 10th place showing at the 2001 NCAA Championships last spring. In the first five years of the crew program, the first varsity eight has finished in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships every year.
MSU will host the Head of the Grand, its only home event of the fall, on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 8 a.m. EST. The regatta will be held on the Grand River, with the best vantage point for spectators at the Grand River Park.
