Cleveland State Coach Rollie Massimino: "Well, I'm glad that one is over. I thought Michigan State played extremely well. Tommy (Izzo) does a marvelous job with his team. They have all the ingredients -- they really go after you, they defend you, they play really unselfish and they put the ball in the basket."
"We came up here six years ago and I thought played very well. This team tonight -- that was Mateen's first year -- was extremely aggressive, energized and they did some really good things. They are a big time basketball team."
Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo: "Let me just preface this by saying that Cleveland State has played three games in five days and two of them were on the road. We did a lot of good things and if it wasn't for the TO on the stat sheet, I'd feel really good about this team. If we don't correct those, we are going to be a very average team. The points we lost in turnovers could win a lot of Big Ten games."
"I am very pleased with the defensive efforts. I thought that Anderson and Torbert looked like the bookend wing guys. They're starting to get better. We're rebounding better. Alan (Anderson) did some good things and (Adam) Ballinger had a good game I think our defense looked pretty good and we did a lot of good things, but it's the turnovers that leave a sour taste in my mouth."
