Burrill Named Big Ten Player of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - - MSU junior catcher Brady Burrill was named Big Ten Player of the Week, Tuesday after helping lead the Spartans to a 2-1 record to start the 2002 season. Burrill recorded nine RBI and batted .583 this past weekend to aid MSU in wins over UC Santa Barbara and UNLV in Las Vegas. The Newhall, Calif., native hit two home runs and had five RBI in a 4-for-4 performance in State's win over UC Santa Barbara. His slugging percentage is currently 1.333.
Last season, Burrill hit .331 and was Michigan State's RBI leader with 44.
The MSU baseball team travels to Charlotte, N.C., this weekend to take on UNC-Charlotte in a three game series, the series opener set for Friday (Mar. 1) at 4 p.m.
