Koerber Named Big Ten Baseball Player of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore Scott Koerber (Haper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) has been named the Big Ten Baseball Player of the Week after leading Michigan State to a pair of wins at Charlotte last weekend.
Koerber hit .600 (6-10) and hit three home runs in two games last week, while collecting eight runs batted in and six runs. The first baseman hit a pair of two-run homers on Friday and went 3-5 with six RBI, before adding another long ball on Sunday in another 3-5 performance. In addition, Koerber started this week with another 3-5 performance Monday against Charlotte, hitting his fourth dinger of the series and driving in two more runs.
For the season, Koerber is batting .357 (10-28) with a team-high five home runs, and has scored 10 runs and driven in 12 for the Spartans, who are off to a 5-1 start.
Koerber is the second straight Spartan to earn Big Ten Player of the Week, following junior catcher Brady Burrill who earned the honor last week.
