EAST LANSING, Mich. - Junior goaltender Ryan Miller (East Lansing, Mich.) and junior defenseman John-Michael Liles (Zionsville, Ind.) were Michigan State's representatives on the 2001 all-CCHA first team, the league announced today.
Miller finished the regular season with a 23-7-5 record, a 1.71 goals against average, a .939 saves percentage and eight shutouts, extending his NCAA record for career whitewashes to 26 in the process. He leads the nation's netminders in wins and shutouts, ranks second in goals against average and saves percentage and is third in minutes played. In CCHA play, Miller was 18-6-4 and led the league with a 1.64 goals against average and a .941 saves percentage, and his eight blankings of conference foes in 2001-02 is one short of the CCHA record for shutouts in a season he set last year.

Among defensemen nationally, he's tied for eighth in points, ranks fifth in goals and is tied for sixth in power-play goals. In conference games, Liles ranks second in scoring by a defenseman with 21 points and its tied for sixth with five power-play goals.
Defenseman Andrew Hutchinson (Hudson, Ohio) was the lone Spartan chosen to the all-CCHA second team. The senior is ninth among league blueliners in scoring with five goals and 15 assists for 20 points. In conference play, he's tallied 4-10--14 in 28 regular-season games.
