MSU Varsity Four Boat Wins Second Conference Award This Season

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 14 Michigan State women's rowing team is preparing to race Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin in Iowa City on Saturday, April 20. The Spartans will bring the co-Big Ten Boat of the Week as their first varsity four boat won their second conference award for the spring season. The Spartans shared the weekly award with Michigan's first varsity eight.
The MSU first varsity four was awarded for their performance at the Buckeye Invitational on April 13. MSU upset No.3 host Ohio State and defeated No. 20 Texas with a time of 7:27.75 in the morning. In the afternoon session, the Spartans improved to a 7:19.06 to clock the fastest time out of all six crews at the invitational, including No. 10 Michigan.
Coxswain Stacia Beiniks, Stacey Atkinson, LaToyia Bowman, Heather Underwood and Erin Robertson were given the same award on April 2 for defeating Princeton and Brown in New Jersey.
The Spartan boats will launch on Coralville Lake on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. CT, with the final race beginning at 3:30 p.m.
