EAST LANSING, Mich. - A battle for Big Ten rowing domination will take place on Saturday, April 6, as in-state rivals Michigan and Michigan State will race on Lake Ovid at Sleepy Hollow State Park. Michigan State is ranked 12th while the Wolverines are ranked 8th nationally by the US Rowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches' Association poll. The boats will launch at 10:30 a.m. EST for the first race of the second novice eight boat.
Michigan State won conference honors as the varsity four boat was named Big Ten Boat of the Week on Tuesday (April 2) after defeating Princeton and Brown at Princeton on March 30.
The Wolverines last rowed to a win over Duke and a loss to Virginia at the Atlantic Coast Conference/Big Ten Conference Double Dual held Saturday (March 30) on Belleville Lake in Belleville, Mich.
The meet will be MSU's first home race of the year as the competition on March 23 against Notre Dame was postponed and will be made up at a later date.
Michigan State will also host the 2002 Big Ten Rowing Championships May 4, on Lake Ovid.
