Michigan State Swimming and Diving Travels to Ball State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - This Saturday (Nov.15) the Spartan's match up against the Ball State Cardinals in Muncie, Ind. at 2 p.m.
Last Time Against The Cardinals
The Michigan State men's and women's swimming teams rolled off a pair of victories over Ball State when they met last year. With a 136-104 victory, the men claimed their third consecutive win, while the women earned a 139-102 victory.
Although the Ball State program came into the meet with a combined record of 18-2. Michigan State swam to event titles in almost every race. The Spartans claimed 19 first-place titles and a pair of team victories over the visiting Cardinals.
Saturday's Competition
In the 2002-03 season the Cardinals women's team posted a 14-4 dual-meet record. Ball State lost only four letterwinners and returns 25 this season. The Cardinals are led by Laura Seibold-Caudill who is in her 25th year as head coach.
The Ball State men's team completed its 2002-03 season with an 11-3 record in dual meets. The Cardinals return 18 letterwinners from last season led by 25th-year head coach Bob Thomas.
Ball State sophomore Kurtis Leer was recently named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week for his performance at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet Oct. 25 in West Lafayette, Ind.
On A Personal Note
Ball State head coach Laura Seibold-Caudill, is an alum of MSU. She was an All-American, national finalist, and an Olympic qualifier on both the one- and three- meter springboards during her collegiate career for the Spartans. Seibold-Caudill's father, Jack Seibold, is the head swimming referee for the Spartans. He also competed for MSU, earning four varsity letters. He was an NCAA All-American and a bronze medalist in the U.S. National Championships. Laura's son and Jack's grandson, Ritchie Caudill, now swims for the Cardinals.
